Besides photography, my favorite mode of artistic expression is sculpture, the art that uses texture and dimension in ways others can't. More than any other sculptural style, I love neoclassicism, which I find to be particularly expressive and beautiful. This has proven to be a major inspiration for me, not only in the obvious realm of sculpture but in the field of photography as well.
As one of the masters of neoclassical sculpture, Bertel Thorvaldsen stands out as one of my strongest influences and is an artist I admire greatly. The photographs on this page are all ones that I took of his work while I was visiting the city of Copenhagen, Thorvaldsen's hometown.
When he neared the end of his career, Thorvaldsen donated the entirety of his workshop to the city of Copenhagen. They were put in display in a new museum designed by Thorvaldsen himself, the oldest museum in Denmark: Thorvaldsens Museum. The collections include nearly all of his original models for the various sculptures he produced. It is truly a spectacular place, and one of my favorite places in all of Copenhagen.
